Program Information
The Adopt-a-Highway Program was established because Rio Blanco County and conscientious civic groups and individuals recognized the need to team up to keep county roads litter-free. For the civic group or individual, this is an inexpensive project that gives satisfaction in making a contribution to the community and the county. For the Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge Department, the program makes the traveling public more aware of the litter problem and allows our employees to focus on safety and road surface tasks.
Individuals or organizations are encouraged to adopt any available section (usually about 2 miles) of a county road for periodic litter control. Rio Blanco County will install signs at each end of the segment crediting the adopting individual or group.
