Colorado is an all mail ballot state with ballots automatically mailed to registered voters to their mailing address of record. Ballots are mailed between 18-22 days prior to each election conducted by the County Clerk. Completed ballots may be returned via mail or by dropping them into a ballot box at a drop-off location.

If a voter needs a ballot mailed to an address other than their regular mailing address on record, they must apply for a Mail-In Ballot Application (Formerly Absentee Ballot). To do so, please visit Go Vote Colorado and complete the Voter Registration Form (PDF).  Mail it to:

Replacement Ballots

If you have spoiled, lost, or never received the mail ballot sent to your address, you may request a replacement by calling, emailing, or visiting one of our offices. We can send ballots by mail up to 8 days before the election; after this you must pick up your ballot in person.

Requirements

Colorado law requires voters to present identification prior to voting in-person at a Voter Service and Polling Center or prior to returning a mail ballot if their voter registration did not contain verifiable ID information.

If voting by mail, the envelope will be stamped ID REQUIRED in red, and a photocopy of your ID must be included in the return envelope (please place outside of the secrecy sleeve containing the voted ballot). Party Affiliation

As of 2018 unaffiliated voters are able to vote in a primary election.  Unaffiliated voters will receive all ballots, however, you can only vote on ONE party's ballot. If you return both ballots, your vote will not count.

Unaffiliated voters may affiliate online at Go Vote Colorado no later than 8 days prior to the primary election and be mailed a ballot. Unaffiliated voters also have the option to affiliate in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center prior to voting.
